About the Item

An Italian bar cabinet in walnut veneer and brass, circa 1940s. Attributed to Paolo Buffa. The symmetrical facade opens to reveal glass shelving, a mirrored serving area, and two interior drawers. The top is finished with a gently curved glass panel. Ebonized sculptural legs lift the cabinet with precision. Brass details throughout — handles, accents, framing — applied with the restraint that characterises Buffa's best work. Paolo Buffa was among the most significant Italian furniture designers of the postwar period, working at the intersection of neoclassical rigour and mid-century modernism. His cabinetry is held in private and institutional collections across Europe and North America. Restored at our atelier in Rabat. Structure sound, veneer in very good condition with patina consistent with age.
