Louis XIV Inspired French Linen Press

Located in New Orleans, LA

Enveloped in sumptuous parquetry and doré bronze, this majestic Louis XIV inspired French linen press displays the characteristics of superior craftsmanship and luxurious design seen in the creations of the iconic Françios Linke. Crafted of sumptuous kingwood, the glorious parquetry door opens to reveal six compartments used to store linens, such as those for the bedroom or even the dining table. The masterful woodwork is flawlessly balanced by intricate doré bronze mounts in the form of Neoclassical floral swags, garlands, plumes and acanthus scrolls. The delicately spiraled doré bronze feet give the cabinet a sense of lightness and balance. Enhanced by a beautiful rouge marble top, this elegant linen press is an excellent example of late 19th century French furniture...

18th Century George I Walnut Tallboy Chest-on-Stand, England
18th Century George I Walnut Tallboy Chest-on-Stand, England

18th Century George I Walnut Tallboy Chest-on-Stand, England

Located in Houston, TX

A superb early 18th-century George I walnut "tallboy" chest-on-stand, featuring exquisite oyster walnut veneers. Early oyster walnut chest-on-stands are scarce. The upper section consists of two short over three long graduated drawers, each meticulously book-matched to show the concentric grain patterns characteristic of the period. The drawers are framed by delicate feather-banding and retain their high-quality, period-correct brass batwing escutcheons and drop handles. The chest sits upon its original stand, which houses a single deep long drawer above a beautifully shaped, arched apron. The piece is elevated by elegant cabriole legs terminating in refined pad feet, providing a sophisticated silhouette that balances the visual weight of the upper case. The sides are finished in solid walnut with a rich, deep patina. The construction features traditional hand-cut dovetails and pegged joints, consistent with early 17th to 18th century cabinetmaking. This piece is a testament to the "Golden Age" of English walnut furniture...

the reverse ogee moulded cornice and stylised Greek key frieze above a pair of shaped fielded doors with acanthus carved moulded borders, enclosing three linen slides, over two short drawers, with two long graduated drawers below, on shaped ogee bracket feet, The distinctive serpentine shaped and fielded panelling of the doors on the present lot conform to a type much utilised and favoured by the cabinet maker Giles Grendey during the period, circa 1740-55. Among the various examples of Grendey furniture which incorporate this characteristic feature, perhaps the most notable comparable appears illustrated in both R. Edwards & M.
