About the Item

Biedermeier Antique Secretary Circa 1840 Veneered With Mahogany Furniture in the Biedermeier style, made of soft wood veneered with mahogany, dated around 1840. The monumental shape of the piece, reminiscent of architectural structures, suggests a German workshop. The secretary features three drawers, a fold-down top aligned with the rest of the piece, and one narrow bottom drawer. The whole is crowned with a cornice and flanked by Corinthian columns. The interior is concealed behind a panel with small drawers and a cabinet with fronts adorned with fillet strips. The secretary has been renovated and finished with shellac polish, with some surface irregularities visible on one of the doors.
