About the Item

In the Manner of Charles Dudouyt, Oak Sideboard, Carved Panels, France, 1940s. This oak sideboard is built from solid oak with paneled doors and a bank of four central drawers. The case rests on sculptural angular legs joined by a stretcher with a pegged detail, giving the piece an architectural silhouette. The two side doors feature deeply carved fruit motifs set within geometric frames, while the drawer fronts and door borders carry a repeating faceted pyramid pattern that adds dimension across the facade. Small brass ring pulls contrast against the warm honey tone of the oak, and the interior offers open shelving flanking the drawer section. The carved detailing and diamond-point woodwork place this oak sideboard firmly within the French postwar tradition of sculptural case pieces. Good vintage condition. Minor surface marks, staining to the top, and wear consistent with age and use.
