About the Item

A distinctive console table from the Lombardy region, dating from the second half of the 18th century. This piece stands out for its elongated proportions and shallow depth, features that make it ideal as a wall-mounted console table or a piece of furniture for a hallway. This type of furniture was often used to display small cabinets, collectibles, or fine decorative items. The piece is made of solid wood with a top crafted from a single piece of wood, featuring a beautiful patina from years of use. The lower panel features a refined inlay decoration with stylized plant motifs, characterized by a simple yet elegant style typical of Lombard craftsmanship of the period. The shapely, slender, and well-proportioned legs lend a sense of movement to the overall design. Beneath the floor lies an iron bracing system with crisscrossing elements; these appear to be the result of a later modification, likely added to reinforce the structure over time. Overall, the coffee table appears authentic in terms of its materials and construction, although it shows some signs of wear and tear due to use and the passage of time. There are normal signs of wear, minor imperfections, and slight adjustments, all consistent with the period. A piece that is both charming and practical, suitable for both classic and contemporary settings. Dimensions: width 146 cm, depth 40 cm, height 81 cm.
