About the Item

This mid-century console is executed in Brazilian rosewood (jacarandá), combining solid construction with richly figured veneer panels. The composition reflects the disciplined material language of Brazilian modernism, where structure and surface are allowed to speak with clarity and restraint. The form is defined by a rectilinear upper case with open storage, elevated on a trestle base. Broad vertical supports are joined by a horizontal stretcher, articulating the load-bearing logic of the piece. The cabinet volume appears lightly suspended within this framework, creating a measured tension between mass and openness. The continuous grain across the side panels emphasizes the depth and tonal variation of the jacarandá, with natural figuring providing visual movement across the otherwise restrained geometry. Four original chrome casters are integrated into the base, introducing mobility without interrupting the architectural composition. Their polished finish provides a subtle industrial counterpoint to the warmth of the hardwood, reinforcing the modernist dialogue between material richness and functional pragmatism. The rosewood has been professionally refinished to revive its natural luster and grain definition. The console presents in excellent vintage condition, with minor wear consistent with age. Materially articulate and structurally resolved, this piece exemplifies the Brazilian modern commitment to proportion, craftsmanship, and functional clarity—where utility and formal discipline converge in enduring design.
