About the Item

An American Empire style library table or writing desk from the Golden Oak era, circa 1890. Masterfully constructed from solid quarter-sawn tiger oak that highlights a striking, fiery wood grain pattern. The rectangular top is protected by a clear custom-fitted glass insert, sitting directly above two side-by-side storage drawers built with sturdy, traditional dovetailed joints and accented by simple turned wooden knobs. Its design features a distinctive silhouette, showcasing elegant, serpentine "S-scroll" shaped front legs paired with straight, structural rear legs, all securely anchored near the base by a low-profile H-stretcher for enhanced stability.
