About the Item

French 19th Century (or earlier) solid oak drop-leaf table with handsome baluster turned legs that can quickly switch between a console or dining table. Similar to the English examples, this metamorphic oval table features rich grain patterns and tones; it uses demilune drop leaves on the front and back that swing on concealed hinges. To enlarge the surface area, turned gate legs pivot to support the heavy leaves creating a visually striking effect from every angle–an ideal aspect of a center table as well. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to maintain the historic character, this table is ready for your interior. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
