About the Item

English Georgian Revival Mahogany Drum Table with Green Tooled Leather Top, Circa 1900 A handsome English Georgian Revival mahogany drum table featuring a beautifully aged light green tooled leather writing surface, six working drawers alternating with six false drawers, and elegant brass-capped hairy paw feet with casters. The substantial circular form is supported by a turned pedestal base terminating in six gracefully splayed legs. Rich mahogany veneers, warm patina, and the naturally worn leather top give this piece the character and presence associated with the great English library and study furnishings of the late 19th century.Drum tables emerged in England during the Georgian and Regency periods and were prized for their versatility, serving equally well as library tables, center tables, and writing desks. Their circular form allowed multiple users to access drawers from all sides while creating an elegant focal point within a room. By the late 19th century, cabinetmakers revived these celebrated designs, producing finely crafted examples inspired by the originals. This table reflects the enduring appeal of Georgian design, with its balanced proportions, refined mahogany construction, and distinctive hairy paw feet. The aged green leather writing surface exhibits attractive wear consistent with decades of use, enhancing the table’s authentic character and making it particularly well suited to English Traditional, Regency Style, Georgian Revival, Traditional Library, Historic Home, Country House, and Grand Millennial interiors. Dimensions: 48.25” Diameter x 30.75” H Condition Report: Wear consistent with age and use. The leather writing surface displays age-related wear, scuffs, and beautiful patina throughout. Minor surface wear, scratches, and finish variation to the mahogany commensurate with age but do not affect beauty or function. Brass hardware and casters exhibit expected oxidation and wear.
