About the Item

A set of two brass and glass nesting side tables in the Hollywood Regency manner, made in the style of Maison Baguès and dating to the 1970s or 1980s. Each table features a rectangular glass tray surface framed by a pierced brass filigree gallery border, decorative acorn finials at each corner post, and slender tubular brass legs mounted on rolling casters. The glass trays are removable. The larger table has two tiers; the smaller nests beneath it on its own set of casters. Maison Baguès, the celebrated Parisian house founded in the 19th century, became internationally known for its brass lighting and decorative furnishings. The filigree gallery detail, acorn finials, and overall construction of this set draw directly from the Baguès vocabulary that influenced Hollywood Regency interiors through the mid-20th century. French manufacturers produced numerous pieces in this vein through the 1970s and 1980s, meeting strong demand for ornate brass decorative objects. The set shows wear consistent with age and use, including brass patina and some fading and chipping to the glass.
