About the Item

Rare find, school prints, double sided, of the series Danske Billeder Copenhagen Denmark, by Alfred Jacobsen, ca. 1895. Large folio. Plate size 39.3 x 29.4 cm; incl. margins: 42.3 x 34.2 cm. Large chromolithographed plates, double sided, in lower left corner monogrammed in stone the letters: 'O.A.H.', and printed in lower right corner: 'Alfred Jacobsens eneret, D.B.' and the drawing number. In good overall condition, minor restoration to the print "giraffe / camel" see pictures. The Danish publisher Alfred Jacobsen (1853-1924), started his loosely issued, popular print series for children, the "Danske Billeder" in 1886, to counteract the import of the popular German children's prints and cut-out plates. Eventually over 300 different prints were issued.
