About the Item

Edwardian belle époque pearls necklace. Beautiful and very delicate necklace, created in England during the Edwardian belle époque period, back in the 1910. This necklace is made up by a knotted strand of one hundred twenty pearls and a round security push box lock, crafted in yellow gold of 18 karats and topped with a layer of platinum for the setting of the diamonds. The settings are finished with millegrain design. Diamonds: Mounted in millegrain settings, with 12 European rose cut diamonds, 0.16 carats, I/J color, SI-1 clarity. Ruby: Mounted in bezel settings, with 1 round faceted cut of natural vivid red ruby of 0.18 carats. Pearls: The strand is composed by 120 white natural semi-round pearls, graduated from 2 mm to 5.5 mm. Birthstone: Pearls for the month of June Weight: 6.1 Grams, (3.91 Dwt). Size: The total extended lenght is 16 Inches (40.64 Cm). Measurements: The diameter of the clasp lock is 9 mm (0.35 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the French national mark of the eagle for the assay of the 18kt gold. Unmarked and tested for .750/.999 gold. The Edwardian Jewelry This period was during the King Edward VII, after whom this period of jewelry history is named, reigned over England for only nine years, yet the style of jewelry known as “Edwardian” was created roughly between 1890 and 1920. Edwardian-era rings tend to be larger, opulent pieces, and stacked ring designs were popular. The metal surfaces of the rings were often diamond-encrusted for additional shimmer. Each of these rings is a work of art, showcasing a bygone era of grace, elegance and the royalty the Edwardian era is named for. Millegrain This is a jewelry technique which refers to the textural effect of a close-set line of metal beads that are typically used as a border on the edges or bezels of jewelry.
