Finely detailed antique Edwardian era negligee drop necklace (circa 1900s to 1910s), crafted in 900 platinum (sterling silver jump ring). The east west facing circular mount is set with 20 estimated 0.02 carat old mine cut diamonds. A further 5 estimated 0.08 carat old mine cut diamonds total an estimated 0.40 carats. The total diamond weight is estimated at 0.80 carats (estimated at I-J color and SI1-I1 clarity). The opal measures 8.5mm x 4mm (estimated at 0.50 carats). The pearl measures 7.5mm. The opal is in excellent condition and free of cracks or chips. The opal & pearl swing freely at slightly different lengths. The diamonds are embedded into a 900 platinum east west facing circular mounting and drop. The opal shows a very lively play of colors from green to red, orange, red, yellow, purple and turquoise. The chain is original to the piece, crafted in 900 platinum (the jump ring is a replacement in sterling silver). The 'negligee' necklace was very popular during the era and is a wonderful example of Edwardian era jewelry. It would make an ideal gift to the bride or a special piece of antique jewelry to pass down through the generations. The necklace is in good original condition. It has not been cleaned in order to preserve the patina and collector value. The necklace is not hallmarked though it has tested positive for 900 platinum. The jump ring is sterling silver (later replacement).
