About the Item

A Fabergé gold and rock crystal inkwell, the lobed rock-crystal body carved with bombe' sides, the hinged gold cover also lobed and surmounted with a cabochon sapphire, marked Faberge' with work master Michael Perchin's initials, 56 standard, circa 1890. Gross weight 60.84 grams This wonderful gold and crustal inkwell was made by Fabergé. Fabergé was established in St Petersburg in 1842, and by the late nineteenth century, was Russia’s largest and best-known jewellery house. The house has become known for their royal commissions and their close ties to the family of Tsar Nicholas II. This inkwell is created from rock crystal, carved with rounded details. The lid is gold, which adds wonderful shine to the piece. The flutted design of the lid mirrors the design of the rock crystal jar, with rounded bombe sides. The top of the lid has a glowing cabochon-cut sapphire which adds lovely detail to this inkwell. This piece is signed by Michael Perchin, who was responsible for the production of many of the Imperial Easter eggs. This inkwell comes from the Fabergé collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. Should you choose to make this purchase we would be delighted to send it to you in a specially designed Bentley & Skinner handmade fitted wooden case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping.
