Silver and turquoise pendant by Sammie Kescoli Begay. The pendant has a unique pattern in overlay silver and a large Morenci turquoise cabochon. The heavy gauge sterling silver pendant is on hand rolled turquoise beads and handmade silver beads measuring 22”. The pendant is 3 .5” x 1.5”. Morenci Turquoise is mined in Southeastern Arizona. The turquoise has a unique matrix of irregular black pyrite. When polished, the matrix appears to be silver. It was one of the first turquoise to appear on the American market. The mine is depleted, making Morenci one of the rarer turquoise.
