THE YIN AND YANG DESIGN IS DONE IN 9 SPARKLING WHITE DIAMONDS AND BLACK ONYX AND SET IN 14K GOLD. HERE IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A PIECE OF HISTORY FROM A LEGEND OF DANCE, BALLET, AND BLACK AMERICA. - WHAT PROVENANCE! The yin and yang ring is set with 9 gorgeous sparkling white diamonds and black onyx to create the yin and yang design. The diamonds are of superb quality, approximately G-H color and VS clarity. We do have the matching cuff links and studs from this set which also belonged to Mr. Mitchell. The top of the ring is 5/8 inch (15mm) in diameter. The ring is currently a size 6.5 US and can be easily resized if desired. The ring is hallmarked 14K and 1985. The ring weighs 7.4 grams. Arthur Mitchell (March 27, 1934 – September 19, 2018) was the first black ballet dancer to achieve international stardom. In 1955, he was the first African-American dancer with the New York City Ballet, where he was promoted to principal dancer the following year and danced in major roles until 1966. George Balanchine created two roles for Arthur Mitchell, ensuring him a place in American ballet history. In 1969, he founded the first African-American classical ballet company, Dance Theatre of Harlem. Among other awards, Mitchell received the Kennedy Center Honors in 1993.
