This watch is a compelling example of that balance: a larger-than-usual rectangular Patek Philippe with hooded lugs, bearing the coveted double signature of Tiffany & Co., and further distinguished by a personal engraving that ties it to a well-established American business family with roots in High Point’s furniture and textile industries. While not a large watch by today's standards, it has a slightly larger footprint and more wrist presence than many comparable examples of the style. Featuring a silver face with very desirable Tiffany & Co. signature and timeless cushion case with hooded lugs, it showcases an elegant vintage style. As fine on the inside as the outside, it is powered by one of Patek Philippe's illustrious 10 ligne movements, unquestionably among the finest hand-winding movements ever built. There is also a deeply human dimension to this piece. The back is engraved from Virginia to Seborn Perry, referencing August 22 and November 12, dates that align with their wedding day and his birthday. Seborn Emory Perry III was born in High Point in 1901 and belonged to a family tied to the city's earliest mercantile history. In later life he was associated with substantial High Point real estate, textile, and furniture interests, while his wife Virginia Ullery Perry moved in notable cultural circles, serving on the board of directors of the Metropolitan Opera Guild, supporting major musical causes in New York, and building a reputation with her husband as a collector of silver and antiques. High Point, North Carolina's official website mentions that "the 1938 freight station was located to the old Seborn Perry estate and is now known as Centennial Station." Their daughter's wedding to a U.S. Marine Corp. Lieutenant was announced in the New York Times. That combination of local prominence, cultivated taste, and intimate personal inscription gives the watch a kind of warmth and history that factory-fresh examples simply cannot replicate. It has all of its original parts down to its winding crown. Its case presents in excellent condition. It retains its hallmark on the right side. Its dial has its raised enamel Patek Philipppe signature and shows only light aging. It may be original or it may have been well-restored in vintage times - the printing is perfect. One of our Master watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consisted of fully disassembling it down to its last screw, carefully inspecting each part, installing a new dial screw and tightening the cannon pinion, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $795 value). It is running strong and true, keeping very accurate time. For the finishing touch, it comes equipped with a signed Patek Philippe alligator strap that is previously worn but in very serviceable condition with original or period correct 18K gold Patek Philippe buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
