Description
A luminous Mediterranean harbor scene by celebrated Spanish painter Josep Puigdengolas Barella, depicting the tranquil waters of Pollensa, Mallorca. The composition captures sailing yachts resting in the bay beneath the dramatic mountain backdrop that has inspired generations of artists visiting the Balearic Islands.
Executed with confident, impressionistic brushwork, the painting combines atmospheric light, shimmering reflections, and a refined palette of blues, silvers, ochres, and soft earth tones. The calm water acts as a mirror, creating a striking dialogue between landscape and reflection, while the sailboats introduce an elegant nautical rhythm that enhances the serenity of the scene.
Pollensa has long been one of the most sought-after subjects in Mediterranean painting, prized by collectors for its combination of maritime beauty, historic charm, and exceptional natural light. Puigdengolas masterfully conveys this atmosphere through fluid paint handling and subtle tonal transitions.
The modest dimensions make the work highly versatile for collectors seeking an authentic Mediterranean landscape with strong decorative appeal and investment-quality authorship.
