About the Item

Kinetic Hanging Ceramic Head Sculpture with Textile Threads "Air" is a unique suspended sculpture by Spanish artist Óscar Aldonza Torres. Combining high-fired refractory ceramic with hundreds of lavender textile threads, the work transforms the traditional sculptural bust into a lightweight, moving presence that gently rotates with the surrounding air. The serene ceramic head is finished with crystalline cobalt and copper glazes whose deep blue and green tones evoke weathered stone, water and oxidized mineral surfaces. Rather than resting on a pedestal, it is suspended from a two-metre cascade of textile fibres that functions simultaneously as support, body and drawing in space. The slightest air current activates the sculpture, producing slow, meditative movement that constantly alters the viewer's perception. Part of Aldonza's ongoing investigation into the human figure as a landscape of emotion, Air explores the dialogue between permanence and fragility. The weight and density of fired ceramic are balanced by the softness of thread, while the closed eyes suggest introspection rather than portraiture. The work occupies space like an installation, making it especially suited to stairwells, double-height interiors, galleries and architectural settings where its kinetic character can fully unfold.
