"I wanted to explore the paradox of a warrior – a figure driven by lofty ideals, yet capable of dark, blood-soaked deeds. The result is this frozen idol: a hollow shell clad in armor, bearing the Lord’s temple on his shield, with nothing but emptiness at its core." Sergey Oganov was born in 1974 in the family of the famous Belarusian sculptor Lev Oganov. In 1994, Sergey Oganov graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Minsk Art School named after A. K. Glebova, and then entered the Belarusian State Academy of Arts in the specialty sculpture. His teachers were the iconic Belarusian sculptors - Finnish Alexander Mikhailovich, Slobodchikov Vladimir Ivanovich. After the successful graduation of the Academy, Sergey Oganov until 2005 trained in creative workshops of paintings, graphics and sculptures under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus under the leadership of M. A. Savitsky and L. M. Gumilevsky. Since 2005, Sergei Oganov has been a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists. In 2019, he was elected Chairman of the Sculpture Section of the Union. Oganov’s easel sculptures are held in the permanent collections of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, Zair Azgur Museum-Studio, as well as private collections across the United States, Europe, Scandinavia, and Asia.
