About the Item

A striking and unusually shaped mid-century Murano art glass vase, attributed to Bucella Cristalli, Murano, Italy, dating to approximately 1965–1975. The vase is particularly distinctive for its triangular architectural form, vibrant chartreuse-green glass and sharply defined geometric faceting. The three-sided body incorporates elongated vertical facets, a further band of horizontal geometric facets around the centre and a precisely chamfered triangular rim. The extensive cold-working and polishing create a highly reflective surface, allowing the facets to catch and refract light from different angles. The result is a sculptural piece with a distinctly Mid-Century Modern character. The unusual triangular construction and crisp geometric cutting make this a particularly eye-catching example of Italian art glass. The colour is an especially attractive chartreuse / yellow-green, with the transparency of the glass allowing light to pass through the faceted body. The vase is attributed to Bucella Cristalli based on comparison with an identical example bearing a Bucella Cristalli label. The attribution is therefore offered in good faith for the consideration of collectors rather than being represented as a confirmed signed example. Product specifications Maker: Attributed to Bucella Cristalli Origin: Murano, Italy Period: c.1965–1975 Style: Mid-Century Modern Material: Art glass / optical glass Colour: Chartreuse green Form: Triangular / three-sided sculptural vase Decoration: Geometric faceting and polished surfaces Technique: Cold-worked, cut and highly polished glass Height: 8.25 inches Width: Approx. 3 inches Depth: Approx. 3 inches Weight: 740g Condition Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks or repairs noted. There is one minute enclosed manufacturing inclusion within the glass. This is sealed inside the body and appears to be a production characteristic rather than subsequent damage. It has been photographed for transparency. Attribution The vase is attributed to Bucella Cristalli, Murano, following comparison with an identical example bearing a Bucella Cristalli label. A rare and highly decorative piece of 1960s–70s Italian art glass, particularly appealing to collectors of Murano, geometric glass and Mid-Century Modern design. We ship tracked, worldwide.
