About the Item

Here is a vibrant mid-century Italian ceramic vase by Gambone, executed in a richly saturated palette of layered glazes. The cylindrical form is enveloped in a luminous orange ground, encircled by horizontal bands of turquoise, ochre, brown, and a striking accent of yellow, creating a rhythmic, almost textile-like composition. The piece reflects the expressive glazing and painterly surface treatment associated with the Gambone family’s production in Vietri sul Mare during the postwar period. The interplay of matte and subtly lustrous surfaces, along with the slightly irregular banding, lends the vase a distinctly hand-crafted, studio quality. Marked to the underside “Gambone Italy.” Condition: Good vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Presents beautifully, with surface wear consistent with age and use, including minor wear to the base and slight irregularities inherent to the firing and glazing process.
