About the Item

Tall floor vase in glazed ceramic by Scheurich, West Germany, 1970s. The cylindrical form carries a thick lava glaze in orange-red with deep blue cratered patterning, typical of Scheurich's collectible Fat Lava production from this period. Model 517-45, stamped Scheurich W. Germany 517-45 at the base. Very good vintage condition, no chips, cracks or restorations. Suited to mid-century interiors with walnut, teak, chrome or smoked glass. Best placed directly on the floor beside a low sideboard or lounge chair, or in an entry corner where the glaze's color and texture can be seen fully. Scheurich is a German ceramics manufacturer founded in 1928, known for large-scale production of decorative pottery through the post-war decades. The company became a key name in West German ceramic design of the 1960s and 1970s, particularly for its bold glazes and Fat Lava pieces.
