This exceptional and large antique Victorian sterling silver pilgrim vase has a compressed oval flask form*. The lower portion of the oval body is encompassed to the lower portion with alternating chased fluted and batwing decoration. The large body is further embellished with impressive cast and applied bearded grotesque masks to either side, conjoined with the original silver carrying chain. The swept neck of the vase is ornamented with a moulded girdle surmounting further chased fluted decoration. The upper rim of the vase/flask is encircled with an applied moulded border.
