Measuring 18.5 inches high, the Virgin stands before a remarkable architectural aureole bearing painted inscriptions referencing "La Virgen de Luján," the patroness of Argentina, suggesting the figure was created for the Argentine devotional market while reflecting Spanish artistic traditions.
