About the Item

French workshop, two-door armoire, solid oak and rattan cane, France, 1950s. Solid oak frame with inset rattan cane door panels. Each of the two full-height doors carries a woven rattan cane panel, the natural mesh introducing texture and lightness against the warm oak frame. The cabinet rises on splayed feet that cant gently outward, a mid-century detail that lifts the volume and gives the oak and rattan armoire its characteristic airy stance. Honey-toned natural oak, open grain throughout. Behind the two doors the interior offers generous storage for clothing, linen or display. The oak and rattan cane armoire measures 125 cm wide, 50 cm deep and 169.5 cm high. The combination of solid oak and woven rattan cane makes it a versatile piece for a bedroom, entrance or living room. Good vintage condition. Oak and rattan cane both intact, natural patina consistent with age and use.
